Children's Ministry

It is the purpose of the Children’s Ministry Team at Central Baptist Church to teach, lead, encourage, and mentor the children to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, through activities and events that are Christ centered and missions orientated.  We believe that by establishing a firm foundation in Christ in the formative years will allow the child the abilities needed to be successful in the future.  Our prayer is to be used by Christ in a way that will make a difference in our communities, our state, and our country, first beginning at home, at Central Baptist Church.

We strive as a team to discover avenues in leading children within the church as well as reaching out into our community.  Our foremost objective is to demonstrate Jesus in all we do.  Our activities and mission events are geared for fun and learning about Jesus. To date we have been extremely hard at work.

To begin the new school year, school supplies and backpacks were collected for distribution for a “Back to School” Fellowship Service.  The children gathered and packed backpacks with the essentials to begin a new school year.  This was followed by a back to school lock in.  It was an all-night party with Bible Study, crafts, missions study, music, games, a 3 am movie, and of course FOOD!!  Our activities were centered on the 2017 VBS theme “Galactic Starveyors”. It was a night of fun that begin with dinner and ended with breakfast. Many adults came throughout the night teaching and leading activities.  Boy were the kids tired! It was an overall fun night.

The children partners with the WUM throughout the year in various mission events.  The children sponsored a Potato Bar Meal to assist in funds for the Myers-Mallory Mission Offering.  At Christmas the children sponsors Christmas Card Lane Post Office in support of Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  The church family pay a small fee per card to send Christmas cards to other church members.  The children meet and separate cards for distribution.  Afterwards we have our “Happy Birthday Jesus” party. The story of our Lord’s birth is the focal point of our party.  Fun and games are designed to reinforce the Jesus’s birth.

October is always an eventful month. Children of all ages traveled to the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera, AL for a day at the pumpkin patch.  We had a picnic lunch and enjoyed a ride on a REAL train to the pumpkin patch where we played games, had faces painted, and choose the perfect pumpkin to take home.  Not only did the children enjoy this outing but the adults had a blast!

The Fall Festival was held even though the weather was cold.  All activities were brought inside except the hay ride.  It was an afternoon of fun ending with a community wide fellowship and church family casserole and pie contest. The cold did not deter the community from showing up and enjoying fun and games with lots of candy and prizes.

February is the month of Love, so the emphasis is to show love to our church family for the continual support in all we do.  The children’s Valentine party is one of fun and games, but also of preparing sweet treats to share with the church family after service on Sunday night.  The children are hands on in the preparation of the sweet convections. Maybe its X-large marshmallows dipped in chocolate or sprinkles, or dipping strawberries in chocolate, or making an exquisite Strawberry Brownie Trifle, it’s all done with love and a heartfelt thank you. The children really enjoy this project.  The party is fun, but it’s the working in the kitchen and making something edible that pleases most.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt and Picnic was fun for all!  The eggs were divided between the preschool and first through six grade. There were separate hunting areas for each group.  There were prizes for the most eggs found and prizes for the gold egg.  This year proved to be a challenge.  The weather called for rain so the picnic was brought inside.  Yet God does what He does best, answer prayer! We prayed for the rain to hold off until after the egg hunt and that’s exactly what He did!!

Isn’t He AWESOME!!!!  Baskets filled with goodies and candy were the prizes.  There were even prizes for the adults!  No child left without receiving bags of candy and small prizes.

It’s been really active around this campus and there’s MORE to come!

Game On

“Gearing up for life’s big game!”

For ages 3 years to sixth grade and Adults

It’s not all about the activities, the fun and games.  It’s about showing Jesus to one another and to those we come into contact with each day.  It’s about loving our families unconditionally as Jesus loves us.  It’s about taking time and teaching Jesus through a simple game, preparing sweet treats, reading a Bible story, looking for hidden eggs, or riding a bike that’s important.

May we introduce Jesus to you?
